Camera Data Calculator (cameradatacalculator.com) is a free, ad-light reference tool for filmmakers and content creators. This page explains what data the site does and does not collect.

The short version

We don't collect anything personal. The site has no user accounts, no analytics tracking, no advertising pixels, and no server-side storage. What you do here stays on your device.

What we store on your device

• Theme preference (light/dark mode). Your choice is saved to your browser's localStorage under the key cdc-theme. It's a single string ("light" or "dark"), used only to remember your preference between visits.
• Nothing else. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your camera selection, runtime input, and other settings are not transmitted to us or anyone else.

You can clear this storage at any time using your browser's "Clear site data" or developer tools. It has no impact on the calculator's functionality.

Offline app cache (Progressive Web App). If you install this site as a PWA on your device (typically via your browser's "Add to Home Screen" or "Install" option), your browser will cache the site's pages, fonts, icons, and bitrate data locally so the app works offline. This cache lives entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can clear it through your browser's site-settings panel at any time. Removing the cache has no effect on the calculator's functionality the next time you go online.

What third parties may do

Some of the "Recommended storage" cards link to Amazon. When you click one of those links, you leave this site and visit Amazon. Amazon operates under its own privacy policy and may set cookies on your device to track that the visit originated from this site (so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases). Those cookies are set by Amazon, not by us. We never see or receive any personal data about you as a result. We may add additional affiliate partners in the future (such as B&H Photo Video); if we do, this policy will be updated and the affiliate disclosure on the calculator page will be marked clearly.

The "Buy me a coffee" button at the bottom of the calculator is a plain outbound hyperlink to buymeacoffee.com. The button itself loads no widgets, scripts, or trackers. It's a regular link. If you click it, you leave this site and visit Buy Me a Coffee, which operates under its own privacy policy and may set cookies on your device. We never receive your payment information or any other personal data from them.

Specifically:

• We use no analytics (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, no log aggregation).
• We use no advertising networks (no AdSense, no display ads, no behavioral pixels).
• We use no social-media trackers (no Facebook Pixel, no Twitter conversion tracking).
• We load no external resources. All fonts, scripts, and assets are served from cameradatacalculator.com itself; your browser makes no third-party requests as a result of visiting this site.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect any data about minors. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, this is by construction rather than by policy.

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there is nothing about you for us to delete, export, or correct. If you're an EU/UK resident covered by GDPR, the rights to access, erase, port, or restrict processing have no data subject in our case. Clearing your browser's storage removes the theme preference we mentioned above.

Changes to this policy

If we add new functionality that affects data handling (for example, if we add a contact form, signup, or analytics tool), this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be flagged on the main calculator page.
